Resident Evil fever has been the topic for debate these past two weeks and the only cure as of late has beenmore cowbell to watch the trailer yet again and discuss it.  While a proper cure for this chronic and debilitating condition has yet to be found it seems that this fever may turn into a full-on flu later this year thanks to a title you may be familiar with: Dragon's Dogma.

Capcom's epic fantasy title about dragons with explicit religious beliefs is set to release on May 22nd.  Upon release, it will include a code to access a demo of Resident Evil 6.  Player who purchase the Xbox 360 version will receive their demo on July 3rd.  Meanwhile, those who purchase Dragon's Dogma on the Playstation 3 will receive the demo on September 4th, giving the Xbox 360 version a 60 days of exclusivity.  Our friends over in Europe will unfortunately have to wait until September 5th to get the demo regardless of which version they pick up.

Not convinced about Dragon's Dogma enough to shell out 60 bones for it?  I can understand.  After all, yet another fantasy epic title that has seen plenty over the past year is enough to turn you off of the genre.  Of course, when Zone of the Enders dropped back in 2001 with the demo for Metal Gear Solid 2 no one could have expected a $50 demo to have such a fantastic game alongside it.  We might be seeing a repeat of that same scenario come May 22nd so try to keep an open mind.

For those on the fence, here's the latest trailer released alongside the demo announcement.

    Sounds a bit like Crackdown and the Halo 3 Beta that was attached to it. Never had I expected such an awesome game to come from my lust for Halo 3. Fuck, it took be a little bit of time to realize it, but I actually enjoyed Crackdown more than anything else. I can only hope that Dragon's Dogma is actually worth this special offer, otherwise there will be plenty of disappointment to be had.

    I was going to get this game anyway, but I don't like this type of marketing. I mean I know very little about marketing (if anything at all) , but I feel like it is being forced. I can't describe it very well.

    Who cares about RE6 when you have freaking Dragons Dogma

    This is actually pleasant news, I want Dragon's Dogma and I want other people to want Dragon's Dogma and I'm not all that sure about how well it will do. Hopefully this will give the game the much more needed attention. Personally I'll take an exclusive demo packaged into my game over shitty DLC any day mainly because I'll actually use and appreciate the demo.

    I'm looking forward to both games, but I'm more hyped for Dragon's Dogma.

    This made me even more excited about Dragon's Dogma until I noticed one little detail...

    "Our friends over in Europe will unfortunately have to wait until September 5th to get the demo regardless of which version they pick up."

    I still haven't played Catherine or the Metal Gear HD collection for the same reason ;_;

    I didn't need a bonus to want Dragon's Dogma. The game looks great regardless of the demo code or not. This move will most likely garner more attention to the game, which is great. Hopefully the game is good enough to outshine the fact that there is a Triple A demo attached to it. Like AdjacentKitten said before Crackdown was packed with the Halo3 demo, I didn't even remember that.

    Interesting to see such a gap b/w the 360 demo and the PS3's. Probably the widest I've seen in a while.

    Don't care so much about the demo, but looks like I'll be getting it anyway since I'm buying DG on release.

    So its a... Timed... Exclusive demo... That requires you to purchase a game from a completely different genre? I was meh on Dragon's Dogma, but this business practice is the final nail in the coffin for me, I think I'll pass.
