Hideo Kojima has just released a picture of a new unnamed game running on the "Fox Engine". The picture doesn't really answer the question of whether or not this new game is related to the Metal Gear series. Despite this we can still make some predictions about the gameplay and setting. First, it's obvious that some part of this game takes place in an arid region. Somewhere in the Middle East perhaps? The character shown appears to be sneaking around the armored vehicle so stealth might be this game's focus, or at least an option.

The character also seems to be sporting a ponytail. Could this be a female protagonist? Or maybe just a guy who digs ponytails. Finally, the armored vehicle and the AK strapped to the characters side should help us guesstimate what time period the game, or at least the picture, takes place in.

Kojima follows up with a tweet showing off what the Fox Engine is truly capable of.

Classy.

So. What's your take?

It seems to me Kojima is doing what Kojima does - the exact same thing as usual. I'd love to see him out of his comfort zone and actual trying something different. This will probably end up being MGS 5, or MGS something as he seems incapable of doing anything else.

Don't get me wrong - I love the MGS series, but i just think it's getting really tired and he should try doing something totally different.

I kind of get people saying that they are tired of the mgs formula, but at the same time every canon mgs game has been something completely new and different from the last, not to mention the last console released mgs game was mgs4 and that was 3 years ago. I hope that this new game will take place in the 1940's while you play as The Boss, oh jesus that would be so fucking amazing, I hope it's more like mgs1 in terms of story telling and steers clear of over the top matrix esque cinematic's

can't say these screens excite me, bland setting, the characters look like they've been taken from poser, but might be placeholder of course. it all just seems kinda cheap. (especially the "transparent clothing" screen)
so I'll keep my opinions until actual screens come out with the fox engine; unless this is it and it looks like poop.
chances are that if it's a game at all I would say it's metal gear, I really hope not though, because I want a more interesting setting, the middle-eastern parts of mgs4 was my least favorite parts.
also thats clearly a dude, looks more like a hoodie though than a ponytail, and not just because the character looks buzzcut.
anyway, we dont know anything yet, I would go on a whim and say it's not their new game, at least not the characters, but you never know.

Didn't you guys see him display what the engine looked like at e3 ? He showed a ninja-like character running around in a forest and riding a horse. He said it wasn't a game itself, but it doesn't mean he won't make games similar to it. Stop being so negative, just because he is famous for MGS doesn't mean it's the only thing he's capable of. Jeez people -.-

To those of you who think this is MGS5, (Taking place during World War 2 with The Boss as the protagonist) you're forgetting something. AK-47's were not made during World War 2, they began production a year or two afterward. Unless Kojima changed something, that is... Oh well, I'd still like to see this happen :D

Dem ground textures. Gross, but in typical Trolljima fashion, fuck knows.

Can't form much of an opinion from just a couple of screens.

Any type of progression in the field of see-thru underwear, be it real or digital, gets an approving nod and thumbs up from me!
