During PAX and the COD XP event I summarized many of the goings on that were too small to do proper coverage of.  Since then I've received requests to do more of these summations but I've been daft as to how to do it properly.  With the recent weeks being filled with little news to be had that deserved your attention it finally dawned on me: why lament all the tidbits we didn't cover when I can

To that end, I'm going to TRY to keep you guys up to date with everything you SHOULD know about at the start of the weekend so you can talk to your gamer friends and appear informed.  As such I'm calling this the 4 Player Weekly New Wrapup or  "Oh yea, I read about that."  I cannot promise that this will happen every week (the week after Christmas may be a bit difficult for everyone here at 4PP) but I will endeavor to keep you guys educated.

What We Covered

Verizon's Xbox 360 FiOS TV Plans

Nick's Review of Assassin's Creed Revelations

Obsidian's Next Title is a South Park Game

New Devil May Cry Footage

New Nintendo 3DS Sales Figures

Xenoblade Chronicles is Coming to the US

What You Should Know About

    • RUMOR: Team Ico lead Fumiko Ueda may have resigned his position and taken on a contractual position to finish The Last Guardian.  His status as a developer may be in question after the completion of the game which is slated for release next year.
    • A cut sequence from Mass Effect 2 that was to feature a quest line on The Citadel is apparently being reworked and integrated into Mass Effect 3.  No word on what it is yet but methinks it has something to do with REAPERS.
    • Good news: according to CD Projekt, The Witcher 2 is reported to have sold 1 million copies.  Bad news: it was pirated over 4.5 million times since release.
    • Microsoft's making bank: the Xbox 360 sold over 960,000 units during the Black Friday week from 11/19-25.
    • On the downside though: Kinect purchases in Japan account for only 1% of global revenue for the peripheral.
    • Ezio's outfit in Assassin's Creed Revelations will be DLC in Final Fantasy XIII-2.  Weird, but I'm not complaining.
    • Speaking of fantasies of questionable conclusiveness, Final Fantasy Type-0 will be released internationally.
    • RUMOR: Bioware's inevitable Dragon Age 3 will include multiplayer.
    • RUMOR: The Dead Space franchise may be in for a massive expansion if EA has anything to say about it.  Rumors are persisting of a Dead Space first-person shooter and a flight game.  Rumors also suggest that Dead Space 3 will include cooperative play.
    • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the first Western-developed video game to ever receive a perfect 40/40 score in Famitsu, Japan's preeminent gaming magazine.  There's quite a few reasons why.
    • The ESRB and the wireless CTIA association have introduced a new ratings system for mobile games.  God help them trying to cover all of them.
    • RUMOR: EA's Army of Two franchise may be getting an upgrade with the next title with 4 player co-op.
    • Neverdead, the next game from Rebellion, has had its release date pushed up to January 31st, 2012 and will have post-launch DLC.
    • Markus Persson AKA Notch, the head developer of Minecraft, is stepping down from the project to focus on making a new IP following a short break.  Given how big a success Minecraft has been and it finally reaching 1.0 status, I think he deserves it.

I got a little excited when I saw the bioshock movie video... I watched it and for some reason I don't think I'll like it as much as the games.

BTW: I'm liking this format of summarizing the week.

little by little, i'm starting to gain interest in the mass effect series. However i'm not sold on the currently developed ME3 combat. Maybe its from my lack of understanding of the series. I'll think about getting into the Mass Effect series.

Thanks Chris - I hadn't seen the Bioshock movie trailer. I definitely agree that this summary at the end of the week is pretty helpful.

WTF, a Bioshock movie? I thought they shut that thing down. Trailer looks cool though, if it's real.

Maybe you could have some links to "prove" the rumors and other news stuff. But you probably want to keep the reader on this site, so I get it :D

Awesome all around, too bad the Bioshock trailer looks faker than George Washington's teeth.

Mass effect 3 is becoming less and less attractive as the videos for it roll. Bioware catering to the casuals and not to the people that picked up mass effect 1 is terrible... but whatever makes you that extra buck, right EA?
