It's starting to seem like today is for V's. In this new video producer Hisaharu Tago walks us through the some of the features in Soul Calibur Vs character creator. The series' character creator made its first appearance in Soul Calibur III were an entire campaign mode was dedicated to your creation. Soul Calibur IV expanded on the previous iteration by including stats with each piece of equipment. The system was quite deep and I used to spend hours in the character creator making any number of passable Mortal Kombat ninjas, Jokers, and Bruce Lees with relative ease. Yeah. I'm not very original.

Today's video has gotten me incredibly excited thanks to the huge increase in options that Soul Calibur V adds to the character creator. In Soul Calibur IV body mass and muscle was dictated by a square grid. Now you can edit the mass and muscle of individual body parts as well as adjust character height. The video goes on to show us the expanded color options and the adjustable finer details in the creator but never mentions anything about equipment stats.

This does make me wonder if the equipment stats from previous iterations will make a comeback. Some of the modes in the previous game catered to stat builds and were largely ignored due to overpowered characters and how ugly some creations ended up looking in an effort to exploit the best stats. I guess we'll have to wait on official confirmation on whether or not stat changing will return.

I liked being creative with character editors in Soul Calibur 3 and MK: Armageddon. I was also very good at making acurate characters based off of other game/tv series. I might just get SCIV just to go insane with this LBP of character editors.

I like Soul Calibur and the character creator mode in IV was amazing. This looks even better. The character creation mode alone is enough for me to buy the game.

I'm not usually a huge fan of fighters and I never played beyond Soul Calibur 2 but honestly the depth in this creator alone makes me want to throw down the cash for this as long as there is plenty of single player content and from what I have seen from the previous iterations I don't think that will be an issue.

IV's character creator seemed like a step forward and a step back, kind of like Saint's Row the Third's, making everything look a lot better and fit together more naturally, but losing some of the customization options.

I hope they bring back the layers that were in Soul Calibur III. It's unlikely, as the 360/PS3 probably doesn't have enough memory to display multiple layers.

Also, I hope there are more styles to choose from then just the main character's. A weapon creator would be awesome, too.

I'd said that I was thinking about getting back into Soul Calibur with this one, having not played any since the first two games in the series. This does make me more interested in things.

That's really cool. Too bad I hate fighting games, otherwise I'd jump right on this.

Well, that sure is the oddest trailer for a character creator I've ever seen.

I ended up skipping SC4, but now it seems like a good opportunity to get back into it.
