I don't think we've talked very much about Risen 2 since the E3 2011. Details have been sketchy since then, but now we're starting to hear a little more about what Piranha Bytes has been doing with the series.

The first "making of" trailer has been released, and this first one covers the behind-the-scenes creation of the Risen 2 pirate-themed world. You'll see from the video that the game-world shots look absolutely stunning. Hopefully Piranha Bytes will be able to bring that level of detail to the final product while still retaining decent framerate.

We also get a quick glimpse of some of the player choices you'll be able to make when first entering the game. Something I'm hoping is expanded upon further in later videos.

To my knowledge, there haven't been a lot of Pirate games this generation. The PS2 enjoyed some, Pirates: Legend of the Black Buccaneer  being one of the better ones, but things have been incredibly dry since then -Pirates of the Caribbean games notwithstanding of course-.  It's about time we had another one. Piranha Bytes, I'm rooting for you.

Looking good so far. A larger world combined with a pirate setting seems a bit more appealing than the content from the first Risen. I found myself getting a bit bored with Risen 1 after a dozen hours. I really hope they work hard on making the game actually 'fun' to play, as in improve the combat system. Personally I found the combat in Risen 1 to be pretty atrocious and bland.

I'm looking forward to this. I love the stuff Piranha Bytes did previously.

If they keep to the promises in the video then there will be like 300+ quests.

It's insane how much better everything feels in the way they describe the game.

So I haven't heard much about this game, but do you actually traverse and explore the seas in your ship manually, or is it just a mask for auto travel?

I enjoyed the original Risen, sure it had its problems but I none the less enjoyed it. So far the sequel seems pretty from the few quick flashes of in game scenery but until we can see some solid gameplay not much more can be said on this game. Also I hope the character models look fairly decent this time around they felt awkward in Risen.

Fuck ya, pirate game. The devs look a little like pirates.
