Modern Warfare 3

In the war to end all PR wars, EA has been dominating the field these recent weeks with Battlefield 3's beta and while it has been an entertaining experience the absence of any Modern Warfare 3 news has been puzzling.  Perhaps it was the calm before the storm as Activision has released a new singleplayer trailer for their November juggernaut title.  In it we get to see Captain Price (Soap is noticeably absent) basically take Makarov tit for tat on the monologues he has had in most of the trailers since the previous title, all the while spouting one of the most glorious beards in all of gaming.

Oh, and there are explosions in there too.

I'm a COD fan like many but I'm really looking forward to the game after the time I had with it at E3 this year and (hopefully) the conclusion to the series will satiate my undying lust for Cold War fiction.  In this war between Activision and EA though, aren't we, the gamers, the true winners?

But the real question is, will it have as much beard as MOH 2010?

I will be getting both of these games and MW3 looks like it finally put a whole bunch more action than previous installments. Both games look like they will have a good campaign going. :)

Singleplayer imo will be the saving grace for MW3. As for MP...let BF3 handle that.

The crosshair of a faraway sniper contrasted the paleness of Makarov's forehead. This one man brought the world to their knees, igniting a war that forever stained the possibility of peace. The sniper envisioned the trajectory of the bullet, as well as the fissure it would produce as it struck Makarov's skull.

It was a sickening image. The sniper drew away from the scope of his rifle. "This man is the embodiment of evil." The sniper offered his conclusion. He turned to his side, gazing upon his partner, a spotter.

"But he's still human." The spotter muttered, giving the sniper his final adjustments.

Even though he deserved a fate far worse, Makarov was going to die tonight.

The armored van came to a complete stop. Sitting in the backseat, Makarov rolled the window down to speak to a walking escort beside the van. The sniper gave his conclusion in the form of one bullet. A loud crack resounded through the atmosphere as the bullet struck with perfect accuracy.

As the sniper repositioned his scope to confirm the hit, he was shocked. The window in the backseat was left a crack open, but Makarov had disappeared from the backseat. The escort continued to converse with a nonexistent entity in the backseat of the van. "Lost sight."

"What?! Take the shot!" The spotter screamed, pointing wildly in the direction of the van.

He jumped back onto his sniper rifle, looking to reacquire Makarov's location. He wasn't there. In a burst of confusion, the sniper took aim and fired at Makarov's escort. The sniper hurriedly gathered his wits and looked upon his second target. As the round pierced through the escort's torso, he vanished. The sniper was saturated in confusion; not one, but all of the soldiers around the van disappeared. Makarov's entire staff... there was no trace.

And then, through the scope of his rifle, the sniper noticed something. The silhouette of Makarov had reappeared in a thicket of overgrown foliage far from the original target distance.

The sniper was lost. Alarmed cries from his partner filled his ear as Makarov drew closer with every blink. It was maddening. The sniper grinned madly as he pulled away from his weapon. "Wasn't he.. human?"

Before the spotter could respond, he noticed Makarov standing behind his partner. As the atmosphere grew hollow, they were going to die tonight.

If I could buy campaign separately from the Multiplayer, then yeah, I'd buy this game. The campaign of MW has always been an exciting ride. Then you get to Multiplayer and you see that nothing really has changed. I feel that the Call of Duty franchise since CoD 4 has not really done much to revolutionise it's gameplay and to be honest, I don't see it happening in a long time.

The trailer was good, but the thing I notice about it is it's more like a trailer for a film, rather than a game, so this kinda makes me begin to wonder: Is Infiinity Ward/Activision aware that they are making the same core gameplay over and over again?

Is it just me, or did Modern Warfare 3 completely rip off that horn thing from the BF3 trailers?

Can't help but feel like CoD's campaign modes really are now just several-hour long scripts. A lot of this stuff LOOKS cool but it'll happen exactly the same, every time, most often outside of the player's control.

Still, I think the CoD series has just had it's hay-day for me so it's more a personal disinterest by this point. It does LOOK very nice though, i'll give it that.

Nice trailer actually, problem is though that I still know how this game is going to play out and to be honest, I want to play a game not watch a fucking movie.

Campaign is literally the only thing I give a fuck about in this game. The multiplayer can go die in a hole for all I care. However, I have no plans to buy this game. If I do play it, it will be because I borrowed it from someone, not because I bought it.
