Why sure, this looks like a wholesome family game if I've ever seen one!

The fall gaming season has begun but for all the shooters and adventure titles about to be released on an unprepared market one thing is noticeably absent: AAA horror titles.  Sure, Xbox 360 gamers have just received a horror game (Bob is looking forward to getting himself plastered btw) but I personally find it extremely hard to believe that you can deliver a competent survival horror experience utilizing motion controls.  Other than a new Silent Hill title it seems that the genre is all but sitting this season out which is disappointing.

That is until you read up on Amy.  Announced earlier this year, Amy is a multiplatform title in development at French indie dev Vector Cell and is bound for the PSN and XBLA this fall.  You play as Lana, a woman who finds herself in the midst of a viral outbreak that is turning people into flesh-eating monsters.  In the middle of the chaos you find Amy, an 8 year old autistic child and you take her under your wing while trying to escape the city that has turned into a war zone.  This escort dynamic is being described by most as an Ico-esque mechanic as you need Amy to help advance and solve puzzles.  Should Lana become infected with the virus she either needs to find medicine or must stick close to the child as Amy somehow has the ability to ward off the contagion.

Gamescom saw the first actual gameplay trailer for Amy and it unfortunately slipped past most people's radars.  Though I'm having trouble trying to figure out how I'll find time to play it given how many damn games are going to be released in the next sixty days I figure that it's about time that Brad got to play another horror game.  Wouldn't you agree?

XBLA and PSN? That game looks amazing visually for an arcade game.

....I'm not very interested. It's not that it is a zombie game, I feel there won't be enough punch to the game ideas that would get me hyped in future videos. This one is a pass for me.

...looks like it could be good, no lasting impression can be taken from this really.

I love horror so this does peak my interest, however there are some things I'm apprehensive about.
Could it be just like an escort mission the entire game? Will they look into the relationship of a woman looking after a child for her own selfish wants or because she genuinely cares?

:/ I don't know what to think of this at the moment.

Escort game...zombie outbreak...I really don't like the sounds of those two, let alone combined. However, after searching youtube and seeing other videos of the game, the setting and music are very much what I love about horror games, and escorts aside, it seems kind of Amnesia-esque (just it's in third person view) in that Lana appears completely defenseless against the enemies, and that kind of vulnerability makes a game that much scarier.

Amy's treading down a perilous line for horror games (no pun intended), but I kind of hope it succeeds. Horror games have indeed been lacking this year.

An autistic child in a video game is probably a good thing, but I can see the media having a field day about it "Games teach people to use the mentally handicapped for their own personal gain." Or some bullshit like that.

Been interested in this game since I saw a Joystiq article on it a month or two ago talking about Amy's autism. Trailer still looks solid.

hm.. looks like it has potential but yeah it really is hard to form a real pre-release opinion on the game just yet but it'll certainly be on my radar for now.

Brad is so going to have to play this. Even though it sounds like Dawn of the Dead meets Resident Evil, or I Am Omega...However, my interest is piqued enough just from the monsters.
