Looks dark and moody to me. Why are people complaining about this again? Is EVERYONE going to be playing this in the dark?

You there!  Yes, you.  Were you planning on being productive today?  Too bad!  You see, last week Blizzard held a press event all about Blizzard's next big title and while we were unable to attend (our demand for a private jet with a ball pit was, admittedly, a bit excessive) we can bring this B-roll footage of the game in action.

I'll come out and admit it right here: I've never even touched a single Blizzard title.  You're shocked, I know.  It just came down to the fact that none of their games really grabbed me and since I hate MMOs (the idea of an endless game with a narrative that isn't urks me) they've never had any appeal for me.  The only game I was ever interested in was Starcraft Ghost and we all know how that turned out.

The great thing about a Blizzard title for me though is that it has the ability to spawn a large "me too" approach in the industry.  It's impossible to count the number of RTS, dungeon crawler and MMO titles that have been "inspired" by what Blizzard puts into their games and we all benefit as a whole from it.  In fact, many of the games you know and love probably wouldn't have ever even been conceptualized had Blizzard not introduced an aspect of that game's core design.  Why, without Starcraft I probably would have never found my two favorite RTS games: Company of Heroes and World in Conflict.

Diablo 3 won't be a day-one purchase for me and probably won't be a day-736 buy either.  What about you guys?

I started my gaming career on StarCraft, man. My respect to them couldn't be any higher than it already is, although it has been dwindling progressively as they keep making destructive changes to their Battle.Net formula.

I understand I shall not be seeing you, sir, on the demonic field of battle, then.

I got Diablo II at the start of the summer so I could get a good feel of the series. I think I'll pass on Diablo III. The games center around loot and to get the best I hear you have to go on thousands of Baal runs. I also hate how it's a click-fest. The kind of repetition like that just kills the mood for me. Perhaps I just can't adapt to a game made a decade ago, or maybe I just suck.

I would like to see what Blizzard has in store for Titan. Could be a big title.

Diablo II is one of my favorite games ever and Diablo III looks very impressive to me. But I'm not as into PC gaming as I used to be; so we'll see.

Nothing can make me care about Diablo 3 anymore, the fact we have to be connected to Battle.net the entire time is enough to scare me off. Battle.net means another account, and Battle.net sucks.
Perhaps im being over dramatic, I recognise how amazingly amazing this gameplay is, but the way Blizzard works now is such a turn off to me

This one is a maybe. I liked what I played of Torchlight, I have been playing more PC games since I got Daggerfall, however The trailer didn't excite me so maybe I'll get Diablo 2 instead.

You love Company of Heroes and World in Conflict, and Blizzard did help shape modern RTS games. However, Blizzard did not make the RTS genre. Westwood Studios made the first commercially successful RTS game around 3 years before Blizzard released Starcraft. Command & Conquer, made by Westwood Studios, released in 1995. Starcraft made it to stores in 1998. Even still, Westwood made Command & Conquer: Red Alert released in 1996. Others companies released their RTS titles much sooner than Blizzard as well. The point being, if Blizzard had never gotten into the RTS genre you'd probly still have been able to play those games.

I am not pouring info from Wiki, as I did play and loved those games. Starcraft is a better game by far, but only because the ground work was laid down for them. Those early RTS titles were crushed mainly due to EA. Blizzard was and is better off. They still have control of their development cycles. Where as Westwood Studios, bought out be EA, was crushed under new EA deadlines. The last good game Westwood made by themselves (mostly) was Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun and even that was rushed by EA.

meh, it doesn't look like diablo anymore, needs more darkness, just like starcraft i'm losing interest in this series. Unless there's that same dark atmosphere and soundtrack, a challenge, or something new will I take interest. Luckily there's already Dark Souls :DDD

This will be a day 1 purchase for me and my life for at least a week will be me in my bedroom playing this game non stop.....Well at least I did that for Diablo 2. I can't really afford to do that for 3 because it would ruin my college grades if I did.

I loved diablo II. alot. and starcraft. and warcraft. but when starcraft II came out, it was such a letdown to me. the ridiculous anti-piracy measures in that game are supporting an awful trend, and the fact that the game is being released in 3 different parts. to me, it feels like this game is just made for money. i would be very surprised if diablo III didn't have the same anti-piracy as well.

thats reason one why im not buying this game. reason two: torchlight II.

the original torchlight was amazing, and torchlight II is going to have co-op; the one major let down of the first one.

plus, the developer, Runic Games, has a philosophy that if you treat your customers nice, they will return the favor.

Torchlight II will have no DRM restrictions, LAN play, and will probably cost no more than $30.
    that beats diablo hands down

Actually Blizzard was the 1st to release an RTS game. Warcraft: Orcs and Humans was released November 1994.
