In the current tradition of good indie games doing especially well financially,  Runic Games' dungeon crawler has now officially sold over one million units since launch.  This incorporates all platforms and is an extremely impressive number considering that this is Runic's first game and a non-multiplayer one to boot.

"We're very excited to share Torchlight's success with our fans and supporters. It's been a great ride so far and we can't wait to give everyone more of what they want in Torchlight II," said  Travis Baldree, President of Runic Games. "It isn't every day you sell a million games. We're grateful to be here."

Tortchlight was released on XBLA last March so even  if you're not one of those PC types, you have little excuse to pass up this gem.

Torchlight 2 is currently in development for PC and will add multiplayer to your Diablo-esque dungeon hunting adventures.

You can probably thank Steam's summer sales for this.

Well, now. It's not like I'm surprised, but given it's indie status, this is a pretty interesting landmark. I hope Torchlight II keeps up the same following, because this just spites the fuck out of retail developers.

I finally tried Torchlight the other day. It's the first game of this genre that I have played and it was a lot of fun for the first two hours, then it got a little repetative. But all in all I think I'm gonna buy it.
