No matter how you feel about Brink everyone can agree that the lag has been the biggest downfall of the game so far.  Bethesda, seemingly not inclined to push Brink into the gaming dustbin of history, has announced that a patch is on the way to "improve network performance" next week.

Certification of the patch has been sent to Microsoft and though the patch for the PS3 was delayed somewhat by the PSN downtime they say they are ready to roll out one for the Black-Box-o'-Blue-Ray next week as well.

"With PSN back online, we’re able to resume multiplayer testing on the PlayStation 3. We’re preparing to bring the changes in the upcoming Xbox 360 title update to the PlayStation 3 version of Brink quickly and we expect to have it out next week. Stay tuned!"

A hefty update is also being released for the PC as well, fixing a host of issues involving lag, recorded voices, and browser capabilities.

So is everyone willing to give Brink another shot and play the game as it was intended?

I've been playing with the lag to grind for those abilities for the last week and a half. Stoked for this patch though, let the slide/shotgun combo commence.

Too bad I've already done pretty much everything possible with the game. I was able to complete all the missions in about 2 days after the release of the game, and I feel like this lag patch has come too late, for XBox 360 users at least, probably not PS3 users.

Nothing to do but wait, if you bought the game. Which I did. I can only hope this game plays well in multiplayer, because that's Brink's only saving grace at this point.

Always annoying when an online-centric game ships with godawful lag.

After viewing others playing Brink for the past few weeks, my interest in the game has grown exponentially. I still would not want to buy the game until I see it at a cheaper price though. Waiting also gives me the benefit of having all of the bugs ironed out. PC would be my system of choice, obviously. Hopefully there will still be a community left when that time comes around. I'm getting a bit tired of buying so many multiplayer games that die off thanks to a small community of players.

That's good, I am glad the developer isn't just letting their users hang.

Sorry, but this game dissapointed me, and the lag made it worse, i returned it and bought uncharted 2 again, i regret nothing.

PC: If the lag goes away and the performance of the game improve then this will be the most succesfull game of the past few years. This game got everthing. Also the online gameplay will grow big after these fixed bugs/performance. This game will destroy any other game. I give the game MAX 2months to improve lags, performance, bugs.

I've been enjoying the online co-op, haven't cared much for the versus. I enjoy playing this game more with a full team of people against a full team of hard bots more than another human team. Yet again I've always been a fan of instances/dungeons in mmo's and this game's co-op reminded me more of that than any other big title shooter, strangely enough lol. Wouldn't mind a few uniquely co-op "bosses" (harder than normal enemy, a special class dependent way to kill said enemy, something along those lines) in a game as different as Brink. If they fix the lag, I'm sure the versus multiplayer will improve tremendously, at least I would hope so, and it'll help out with a couple of the co-op rooms that have given me a little of a lag problem. Less lag is always an improvement lol.
