For those who don't know, Resident Evil: Raccoon City is the new Resident Evil game being developed by SOCOM: Confrontation developer Slant Six, and if you're not a fan of the action oriented combat of Resident Evil 5 you may want to stop reading now. Of course, if you find yourself to be in an open-minded mood today you might see this departure from the traditional RE stylings as a breath of fresh air.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is a squad based cooperative shooter that will feature 4-player squad tactics of the kind that are usually reserved for SWAT and military sim leaning games. It's certainly an interesting idea, and as long as the series can retain the gritty and dark feel that is enigmatic to the series we have a real shot at something truly different and innovative being produced here.

Well as long as we can get some golden dialogue from the cheese master Leon this game might be okay in my book. Other then that I have had my fill of squad based shooters taking place during a zombie apocalypse.

I was hoping they would of showed what kind of perspective we would have. I'm worried if they try and make it 3rd person like 4/5 then it would be a hassle to handle, but if they go FPS people will scream "L4D CLOONNEE!"

I know it doesn't seem like that big a deal, but the camera can make or break this game.

    Fuck. Fuck, shit, kittens.

I knew this would happen ever since Resident Evil 5 took the action and amped it up, and I'm not particularly thrilled about the return of real Resident Evil zombies being in the form of.. whatever this shit is. It already looks too fast-paced for my liking. I'm going to be severely pissed if this turns into yet another product of the most profitable market.

Honestly, from the footage alone, there's nothing really "Resident Evil-y" about it besides Leon there. Well hey, if they DO do this right, then it'll be another good first person zombie shooter (FPZS?), and those, for the most part, are pretty fun. But considering how high the bar has been set by Valve, I don't know how "good" this game can be, at least compared to L4D. They'd have to do some pretty interesting things to win me over first.

I expect it to look a lot like Socom Confrontation since Slant 6 worked on it. My biggest concern is that it's gonna be all online like Confrontation and not have a co-op campaign. I just wanna go through Raccoon City with 3 other friends and just clear it out or protect vital members of the story. I guess we'll see in the upcoming months.

Real Zombies. Four player co-op. FPS. I can get behind this game. I wasn't playing Xbox Live during the Left for Dead 1 and 2 hay day so I didn't pick them up when I started playing Xbox again in fear of struggling to find games.

It also fills a gap in the PS3 market since they never got a chance to play those games.

i personally saw nothing wrong with Re5 yeah the horror elements were lacking, but hey the plot kindve explains it. Your in africa, the virus is starting to take better effect, so the virus USED to turn people into meat eaters with crazy rotting skin then came resident evil 4 where it started taking better effect. Re5 followed. so its kindve hard to see where the series will go. Cant do much but wait and see what capcom decides to do with resident evil 6. If it ever gets developed.

If Capcom is going for 4 person zombie co-op...why not bring back Outbreak?!

Bad trailer is bad. However, I love the idea. However, I am getting the feeling this will be RE meets L4D. Not really a good feeling, but if done right... It could be something amazing.

I've never been opposed to the idea of this game, and I'm still not, but that trailer did nothing to sell it to me. I saw this trailer and I honestly thought it was for a mod or something. Its odd angles and cuts make the game look pretty bad. Still not against the idea but this trailer is a red flag.

As a Resident Evil game, I don't know what to think...

But as a co-op 3rd person shooting zombie game, I'm interested.

Have to see more to judge, really...

The trailer was very uninteresting to me, but the concept itself feels great. Keeping an eye on this.

The only cool thing about this trailer: It looks like you'll be playing as Hunk-type dudes. That's kinda nice.

Mr.X action. To bad there is more than likely going to be no Nemesis in the game. Would take Nemesis over Mr.X any day.

I'll admit, my brother and I played RE5 and its Mercenaries mode pretty ardently. And I'll also admit that I have a bit of a zombie phobia (long story), couldn't play RE2 or games like it back in the day. I even hesitated for months to buy L4D, because I thought all that zombie action would scare the crap out of me, but it didn't. I was pretty glad that I was able to play a RE game without crapping myself.

But I don't know what to think about this. I'll just keep an eye on it. :o
