It happens every time I go to one of these events. I get swept up in the chaos and always miss a few games that I had no idea were even there. Either that, or I find out later that I was actively ignoring secretly awesome games the entire time. Ever since I missed Scribblenauts at E3 a couple of years ago, I have been relying on Ben(school) to give me "outside" tips on these games while at the show. Damn you Ben! Why didn't you tell me about these games below?

Fallen Frontier is a game I just found out about after reading a glowing preview from Jeremy Parish over on 1up. He describes it as Halo meets Super Metroid -- which makes sense considering the game is developed by former Halo devs. Add in a Metroid-like world structure and co-op, and I'm kicking myself for not trying it out. Here's a trailer:

The second game I regret missing was Orcs Must Die. During our meet-up, forum member QualityBeats actually recommended I go check this game out, but I got distracted by something else on the last day of PAX. This one pisses me off because it reminds me so much of one of my favorite underrated PS1 franchises, Deception. Here is the trailer:

Now, I've seen BattleBlock Theater a few times before, but I didn't realize The Behemoth was showing off new co-op gameplay of the game at PAX East. I had only seen the multiplayer modes in the past, and if you know me, you know I don't spend too much time on multiplayer games. It's just a shame I didn't realize there was co-op until the last 15 minutes of PAX. Here some footage:

While the first trailer looked really stupid, watch the demonstration below and tell me Twisted Pixel's Gun Stringer doesn't look fun. And it, along with Ms. Splosion Man, was at PAX East. But alas, I never got a chance to try it out. The lines were filled with too many weirdo casual Kinect fans.

It's a shame I didn't get to try these games out. If you can think of any other games that sounded cool, but didn't hear us talk about on our PAX podcast, please let me know in the comments. Just let the regret pile on.

Orcs Must Die looks pretty appealing to my own tastes. Sometimes killing massive amounts of enemies isn't good enough, but introducing traps and spells that can make use of your surroundings as a method of taking the slaughter to a new level is something very nice. Thinking on the fly, or generating a brilliant plan at the spur of the moment can be very satisfying.

Orcs Must Die looks like the best out of the bunch.

That was a good trailer for GunStringer, and BattleBlock looks like a fun little co-op game. Lotta good indie games comin out lately.
