So I'm shaking my hands like a cabaret wizard. I see a giant spinning flower. I kamehameha that shit, and a giant lady blooms out of it. Now I'm Spiderman'ing her with my web. I spin around, give her one last jazz hands, and win the game. This is Child of Eden. A game where you kill nature by waving at it.

Below is a video of me playing Child of Eden. Despite reports from TGS and the apparent input lag in the clip, the screen I was looking at was not delayed. The control is nearly 1-to-1 now, and is probably one of the more responsive games on the Kinect. The trouble I had was in the switching of weapons. No one instructed me on how to play; but I heard from other reports that I only needed to clap to switch my beam types. This didn't work so well, and I had to drop one hand before I could switch to the other. The aiming reticule would drop, but the Kinect would find my other hand quick enough. This was the only issue I had in an otherwise beautiful zen-like experience. I'm not going to by a Kinect for this game, but it certainly sweetens the idea of getting one.

Honestly, it looks cool in the sense that I would walk into an arcade and blast a few pounds away on it. Home console game, not so much. It does have an interesting art style and I can easily say it's the best thing I've seen for Kinect but it still isn't enough for me. However I hope it sells well for those that do own a Kinect and I also hope the marketing involves some trippy tv spots and the like otherwise without some kind of "wtf" reaction, I think it would be a hard sell for the average Kinect consumer.

the visuals are mindblowing: lots of color and life....although that may be its biggest feature, it doesn't look very fun/deep gameplay wise. towards the middle of the video, the controls show to be unresponsive or not-very responsive. i hope games for this thing get the development they need.

Eh looks like a poor mans Fantavision combined w/ EEE, both of which are games i love but this doesnt seems to compare gameplay wise, aurally or visually.

The only thing thats preventing me from writing it off is the possible feedback youll feel when you play the game which could be anywhere from awesome to burdensome, that and im still not sure of all the mechanics at play.

However if i did suddenly come into possession of a kinect this would be my top priority but like the article as of yet im not buying a kinect for the game.

I am now however looking forward to a full review later.

I agree I'm not buying Kinect for this, but this looks great. The art style is crazy good.

Ehh. Why can't they implement Kinect stuff in regular games instead of using it as a gimmick.

it kinda sucks to see brad not know how to use the "bomb" mechanic, but overall the game seems sweet....brad looks akward, but i think thats because the tv he was aiming at was low to the ground.

Personally I have been looking forward to this game since it was announced, glad to finally some more footage of it. The visuals and the audio are fantastic, exactly what I would want from a successor to Rez. The Kinect controls seemed to work once you get the idea for what the bounding box range is, prior to that it was a little chaotic. I can't help but think that the controls will feel a lot nicer on the PS3 with the Move though. Having an easier way to aim and actually have a trigger to pull to shoot and charge seems a lot more comfortable and enjoyable then thrusting your arm forward.

Hmm, seems like an orgy of color and visuals.

Hopefully the controls are ironed out before release. Looks great though.
