The hype engine is throttling full bore as Deep Silver releases these great looking Dead Island screenshots and some new information on the game. What kind of information? How about 4-Player co-op with drop in, drop out gameplay, thousands of weapons, and RPG-elements including and xp leveling system and skill trees.

Gameplay Highlights:
- In keeping with an atmosphere of desperation and survival by any means, Dead Island focuses on serious, first-person action gameplay with a close-quarter, immersive melee focus.
- Dead Island’s seamless 4 player co-op multiplayer seeks to provide the most immersive multiplayer experience to date. Players can drop in and out of each other’s games at any time with no loss of progress as well as the ability to continue on alone or with others.

The screenshots show some really nice environments, and what looks like pretty brutal Condemned-style first person melee action.
Sadly, they do not come with music.

Its kinda sad how many people are caught up with the trailer and the dead little girl, boo freckity hoo; what the hell do you thinks going to happen in a zombie infested island? The little girl doesn't always get the Zombrex.

I had a thought this sort of game would come out 'eventually,' but I certainly didn't expect this to be it. A co-op zombie RPG with skill trees, tons of weapons, a leveling system and customizable weapons? The only way they could top this off is if they let you customize your appearance, too.

Its bizarre to see an idea that I've been imagining ever since the release of Elder Scrolls IV (an FPS zombie rpg with skill trees and quests) to finally be brought to life, however, I have to admit that its pleasantly bizarre and after seeing the images and reading further into the game, I am happy with the games direction.
