Open that vault of money and get your swim trucks on! As per the Research & Analysis division of analyst firm Forecasting & Analyzing Digital Entertainment, LLC (now that's quite the name) XBLA broke all of their personal records in August by pulling in 17.5 million dollars in one month.

August marked the end of the Summer of Arcade, which has been a cash cow for Microsoft for the past three years. This year brought some high profile titles like Monday Night Combat, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Castlevania: Harmoney of Despair and Limbo. All very good titles and I, personally, toasted Xbox in a recent podcast for having such a good run.

Not sure how the "best month ever" and the "we're going to raise your Xbox Gold dues" jive though.  Maybe they need a second building of money to swim in.

Top 10 Titles for August 2010, by Revenue:

    1. Monday Night Combat (Uber Entertainment) - 187,000 units (1200 Microsoft Points)
    1. Castlevania: Harmony of Despair (Konami) - 131,000 units (1200 Microsoft Points)
    1. LIMBO (Playdead) - 128,000 units (1200 Microsoft Points)
    1. Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light (Crystal Dynamics) - 107,000 units (1200 Microsoft Points)
    1. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Ubisoft) - 79,000 units (800 Microsoft Points)
    1. Hydro Thunder Hurricane (WB Games) - 50,000 units (1200 Microsoft Points)
    1. Trials HD (RedLynx, LTD) - 47,000 units (1200 Microsoft Points)
    1. Shank (Klei Entertainment Inc) - 41,000 units (1200 Microsoft Points)

Glad to see Castlevania HD and Limbo up top. Deadliest Warrior made the cut? Sweet. And wow, Castle Crashers is still going strong.

Wait what? I thought I heard Limbo did the best out of all of them. Weird.
Also I'm surprised Castle Crashers is still going that strong and Uno isn't on the Top 10.

I'm surprised to see Deadliest Warrior up there (it sold that many units?!) I'm glad to see Summer of Arcade is a viable way for games to put their selves out there. Hopefully with Guardian of Light selling decently (for an arcade title), Crystal Dynamics might keep the Tomb Raider franchise going.

Same as Carlos, I'm really happy to see Harmony of Despair in the top 10, and even happier that its in 2nd! Hopefully, this is a good sign for 2D Castlevanias in the future.
