Bing, Microsoft's search engine, has launched a program that rewards those participating in it with several things, one of which is Microsoft Points. All you need to do to is download the Bing toolbar and follow the instructions for the many offers available.  I have tried it as a desperate means to regain some points after the new Castlevania HD DLC did some bad, bad things to my virtual wallet and let me tell you something; this, could actually be something really, really cool.

First off: the bad. The toolbar only works with Internet Explorer (I know, right?) After starting IE up for the first time in several years and signing up for it I received 250 rewards points. These can be exchanged for Microsoft Points at a rate of 100 rewards points to 100 Ms Points. Something else that kind of sucks is that it takes 8-12 weeks to get your rewards once you have cashed out, so this is not a good way to get some points for next week's big release.

The good is that there doesn't seem to be any weird, shady stuff going on and that it is pretty simple to get points: Making your default search Bing for a certain amount of days, doing a specific number of searches a day or doing searches on certain subjects (I got Charles Schulz).

I am going to stick to this and try to see it as a daily quest in an MMO. Every day, before I read the news or surf the web for LOLcats , I am going to see what is up with this toolbar and earn me some points.

The program seems to be available until September 2011.

Go here to check it out, if you're interested.

Carlos, I'm going to be honest and say the only reason I came to this article was for the picture of Chandler. Well done.
