Devil May Cry this. Devil May Cry that. Blah! Capcom showed off another action game that looks far more exciting that this Devil May Cry reboot. The game appears to be the God of War of the East. That is, you will probably be trying to rip the head off of Buddha instead Zeus.

Developed by CyberConnect 2 (Silent Bomber, Tail Concerto, the .hack series, and the Ultimate Naruto games), Asura's Wrath could be a breakout hit for this talented developer. The game is being produced my Keiji Inafune (Mega Man) and is directed by Masahiro Yasuma (MM: Battle Network, Tron Bonne).

And while you may might be doubtful as to whether this impressive trailer is showcasing in-engine footage, I recommend watching the trailer for their most recent game. License aside, this team makes some of the most beautiful and fluid action of any game this generation.

This is what the video game industry is missing. Completely over the top ridiculous combat and story. I don't want more realism in my games I want complete mind blowing awesomeness!!!

That was one of the most extreme giant galactial pokes I've ever seen.

Out of everything out of TGS thus far, this is probably the thing I'm most excited about now.

I wanted something completely new and unexpected from TGS this year (like Spy Party from PAX) and I think this is it. Looks pretty awesome. I'm getting a strong God Hand vibe from this, and that's never a bad thing.

No thanks. I will be completely ignoring this one. I don't see the appeal of it at all.

More promising than the DMC reboot? I don't know about that. I think a game like this is far more likely to have problems for a number of reasons. To say that an eastern god of war clone looks more exciting than a slick looking dmc reboot from an ambitious developer like Ninja Theory is a bit of a stretch. However, I do like the eastern stylings and buddhist symbolism.

Thank you for putting this game on the spot light Brad. The forum post got little attention. This game looks great and the people that are making this game are pretty good.

Side Note: Asura always comes up as items in many RPGs or maybe as a boss once in a while. It is pretty cool that a game finally centers around him.

Yeah, I watched the trailer a few days ago, while everyone else was complaining about the new "Dante". It's a shame Asura's Wrath is not getting the attention it deserves (judging solely by the trailer).

I'm actually really excited about this game. Absolutely looking forward to it.

What's this have to do with "Devil May Cry" again? Can we look forward to a year of Brad showing the DMC (cinematic) trailer pointing how THIS sucks and THAT sucks?

I liking how "Asura's Wrath" looks so far,but hopefully it can stand on it's own instead of riding the wave of DMC anti-hype. Maybe they'll get released on the same day too. Oh the horror.

    one word, crazy
and it may even surpass god of war as far as scale goes, combat looks faster at least, but the trailer in whole shines of anime lameness and made-to-be crazy, japanese view of "total badassery", like dragon ball or something, so that puts me off a bit.
    oh, and Space buddah

Some mythology for those wish to know: The Asura realm is one of the realms you can be reborn in to in Buddhism if you don't live your life as a human right. It's far from the worst place you can end up, but it still kind of sucks because it's really hard to reach enlightenment there. Like the trailer implies, asura do pretty much nothing but fight all day. Also, they are super envious of the devas (beings who came close to enlightenment, but not quite, and they usually re-incarnate as another deva or something because they're too lazy to work on reaching buddhahood) which is probably what the giant guy at the end was (I'm not positive though).

I'm pretty sure this was probably called Project Badass before Asura's Wrath. I'm pretty excited about this and would love to see some gameplay. From the looks of the trailer I assume he'll be using mostly hand to hand combat? Which in my opinion is way more badass than swords and other sharp things. Hopefully this can be the one action game that gives me everything I want. Or it could crash and burn and be an abysmal 12 hour long sequence of quick time events.

I've never really been that into character action games. This looks cool, but I don't think it will top Bayonetta.

Definitely one of the more interesting and promising games revealed out of TGS. Just when I thought Capcom has completely sold it's soul to western flair, they bring this out. At first glance, I thought, "Wow looks like just a desperate attempt at appealing western audience by making a generic action game"!. But when it got to the part with the main character and his "rival" trading fists or doing "cross counters" in manly fashion complete with street fighter ink effects, I was pretty interested. However, that was nothing compared to the GIANT ROBOT BUDDHA who attempts to crush the MC from FREAKING OUTER SPACE! That doesn't faze our hero as proceeds to grows six arms and somehow beats the living hell out of the giant buddha...At that point i was pretty fucking hyped and only the japanese can come up something as over the top as crazy as that.

Phew, yea I'm stoked about it and I hope it doesn't disappoint.

    Oh shit.

This game looks promising. Before i jinx myself into thinking that this has potential to keep me from school, I need more footage. Nonetheless, this looks fucking BONKERS! But I have a question, that was actual gameplay of the game huh? If it was, I think this is appropriate...
    Holy Shit.
    That is all.
