The most important thing you need to know about The First Templar is that the press release I obtained about the game was listed as coming from the town in which I was born. This, undoubtedly, will imbue the game with a preternatural ability to rise above all other game releases to secure the title of  Best Game Ever Made...EVER.

Honestly I should just stop this article here since you should require no further information.  I will, however, dredge on for you through the waters of ignorance in my boat of JOURNALISM to deliver the knowledge packages which I have so lovingly constructed.

The First Templar is a co-operative action role-playing game being developed by Haemimont Games, the chaps responsible for Tropico 3, Imperivm: Great Battles of Rome and a few other city building tiles which have seen mostly PC releases. You play the role of a French Templar (I knew it!) who is traveling with his young heretic lady friend, and will be able to switch between the two characters while the AI does the deed on the other end. (That could not have sounded more sexual).

The title boasts "Knights Templar battle against an onslaught of foes; from knights and archers, to something far more fearsome, and prepare yourself for an unmatched combat experience, which arrives in Q1 2011." which seems like it could be fun if they can get the combat correct.  And, honestly, I'm never one to turn a blind eye to some  sword killin' action.

Watch the Gamescom 2010 trailer below to view some of this unmatched comba experience and see for yourself.

The First Templar is set for release Q1 2011 for the Xbox 360, and PC. No PS3 release has been announced.

I saw a preview this in a issue of OXM that I picked up recently. Didn't go in to any detail, but it dose look like it will be an interesting hack and slash adventure

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but this so far looks like what half of the Assassin's Creed story should have been.

I'm sorry but this had a lot of elements in gameplay that looked rather reminescent of Assassin's creed. Like the dive off the building and it just looked reminescent of Assassin's slitting peopel's throat.

HArd to tell from video what the game is like but even if its half as good as AC with a more fleshed out combat system we could have a good game.
