Microsoft has finally confirmed what everyone else has already known. Kinect will be sold for $150.00 this holiday season.  For those casual gamers who don't have an XBOX, Microsoft will be releasing a bundle, which will include a 360 Arcade (with 4GB Memory) and the game Kinect Adventures, for $300.  Which, for those keeping score, is still twice as much as a Wii costs.  Seems that MS is betting that these casual gamers will not want, or need, very much more than 4GB of storage space. Of course considering how much online content MS offers, I bet that they are hoping these people upgrade to an Elite within the next few years.

“Kinect for Xbox 360 offers tremendous entertainment value for the whole family,” said Dennis Durkin, Xbox 360 chief operating officer. “With full body, voice and the ability to play games with your friends right out of the box, Kinect is the most unique, complete and affordable way for everyone to enjoy controller-free fun and entertainment.”

“I think Kinect is a major leap forward in the gaming experience that will appeal to both mainstream and casual gamers,” said Michael Gartenberg, partner, Altimeter Group.
You all know how I feel about this,  though its better than the $500 I was anticipating. Now we'll just have to see if people bite.  Maybe if it came with its very own Felicia Day to just be there and play Kinect while you watch since, as you know, Felicia Day playing Kinect is only the cutest thing on the fucking planet.

Well Joseph... if you're getting an Elite with a respectable HDD size and Kinect separately since there's no high end bundle, add in a HDMI cable and something like a play and charge kit that most people usually end up getting... or the keypad... or a mic... or a live subscription... and this probably skyrockets well above $500-600.

Still scamming us at every turn.

they are probably going to keep the price high until they release a game they thing is going to be huge for the Kinect and if its still not selling then they will bump the price down a little but it will still be above the $100 mark

I watched the Felicia Day video, and it was indeed very adorable. What she said at the end of the video, however, made me think.

"I can't wait for a game where you shoot a fireball like all Waaaaah!"
And then she pushed her hand out in the air like some pose a mage would make in an RPG.

The problem is, I highly doubt any game that exciting will actually exist for the Natal. I mean, heck, the Wii has trouble getting 3rd party support most of the time, and a lot of the more interesting games come from Nintendo themselves. Microsoft has never really developed any 1st party software unless you include Bungie, and I don't think they realize how much work they're going to have to put in on their end to keep this thing afloat.

Man i cant believe Microsoft is bundling the kinetic in with a crappy 4gb arcade Xbox i would assumed they would have done the standard 20 gb. I guess your right Joesph most who buy the bundle will be guaranteed to look for an upgrade

There should be a wii bundle where you pay $300 for just a red nintendo wii and a day of gaming with Felicia.

I was hoping to buy an Xbox 360 this summer, and was hoping for one with wifi built in, this new Arcade SKU was great, but I KNOW that 4gb of space is not going to be enough for me, so I'll have to pass, and Kinect? Never interested in the least, i barely play the Wii, so why get Kinect?

oh man, and i thought microsoft could not get anymore retarted. But people are idiots and will buy it anyway and than microsoft will become the next nintendo, forgetting their core gamer crowd and focus on the casual gamers more just like nintendo did and still does

Well, I guess we'll just sit back and watch the train wreck...Honestly I'm hoping for a train wreck, because if this goes over well, I'll be ashamed in the "gaming" community.

    150$? Really, Greenberg. Really?

Will there be a complimentary coupon inside the Kinect packaging that I can trade in for a hand-job? Preferably one performed by the likes of Felicia Day, or Kudo Tsunoda himself.

If not, I do not see the value in this deal you are proposing to me, Microsoft. If I wanted to get fucked in the ass I would've bought a PSP Go on launch day. If I wanted to deepthroath corporate sausage I would've purchased all 6 iterations of Guitar Hero+plastic guitar last year. I thought gamers already showed these motherless suits what we are willing to pay for silly technology? Well, I guess we haven't.

Will we be showing them that now? I fear that we won't.

I do not have a Xbox 360, nor do I plan on getting on in the future. Even to someone who doesn't have one like me it seems way overpriced for what you are getting and it has not made me more interested in the Xbox 360.
