There was a time when Squaresoft made CG (at least that's what we called it back then) that was years ahead of anyone else who even attempted it. They also made really great games back then too. And while the "great games" part is highly debatable these days, this trailer proves their CG team still has chops.

No one knows much about Deus Ex 3. We know that Deus EX 1 is a beloved and revolutionary game. We know Deus Ex 2 is not. We also know nothing at all about the Eidos studio that is working on this game -- they have never shipped a game and their other project, Thief 4, is also a sequel to a beloved franchise.

Either way, this trailer has me excited if not for the cyber-punk setting alone. Oh and that mind control wire thingy is pretty sweet too.

Indeed Brad! I myself haven't played the Deus Ex games, but the trailers they've released since premiering this entry in the series have raised my hype considerably. Sure we haven't seen any gameplay as of yet, but I have faith that they'll pull through and deliver an outstanding game. 2011 is shaping up to be really good!

i hope with monolith giving up fear 3 to a new developer that we see a revisiting of either shogo or no one lives forever, expecially with the recent releases of conviction and alpha protocol, it would be nice to have a less serious toned spy game. either way the trailer makes me want to replay deus ex right now

As a Deus Ex fan I'm optimistic for this game, eff the cynics. Check out the (apparently) gameplay screens.

I love the look and feel of this trailer. I mean, sure, it'd be great to see ingame combat or anything, but if they keep that same feel for it, I have high hopes. One of the coolest looking things about it is the world, actually. Bustling, high tech, news reports. What a thing it would be, if in the game, they had things happening, and you could see them, and they're reported in the news too. That's a rather small thing, I guess, but it would make it seem more real. I wonder how the gameplay would be though...I suppose that the story isn't the most original in the world, but again, the world is interesting looking already. I just hope they take that, expand on it, and make it an interesting cyber-punk world to explore. If they even think about making it linear, that would just be a huge loss.

Half way through the trailer I started to question if this is going to be a game or just a sci-fi movie.

Great to see Deus Ex again, this cg trailer certainly rekindled my interest in the series.

On a side note, this makes me extremely interested in how other Eidos franchises will play out down the road. Particularly Hitman.

    That's quite the good trailer.

Also, I hope they did drop the 3 off the end. Some how it seems to fit more than trying to pass it off as a sequel, whereas this kind of looks like a rein-visioning. Which would be fine with me, if anything has taught me anything, it's sometimes sequels can do more harm than good.

I think... I think I just creamed myself.
This trailer is epic, gorgeous, and the story and environment look right up my alley. Ghost in the Shell anyone? The universe of Ghost in the Shell has got to be my absolute favorite fantasy universe ever. And I see many parallels in this trailer that have me extremely excited. I love this kind of stuff! Cyberpunk FTW!
I'm really hopeful that this game will make it and be awesome.

Honestly, I think this would probably make a better movie than it does a game. But that's just me.

The most ridiculous thing about the trailer is that there are still people living in Detroit in 2027.

Looks great, if unoriginal. I'm a Ghost in the Shell fan, and I don't think they could have ripped it off any more than they did. That being said, there isn't much these days for cyberpunk-styled games, and it'd be awesome if this turned out as well as it should.

    Looking forward to more info.
