I feel like I have been posting a lot about Assassin's Creed lately but to be honest, I feel it is a series with endless potential in the industry. It is an intriguing take on ancient history with exciting game-play possibilities and an almost endless supply of source material to draw from. For me personally, the science fiction twist on historical events is one of the most interesting and engaging plots that I have latched onto since the LOST started six years ago. While the original title was a little disappointing for reasons I need not explain, the improvements made in last years AC2 were more than enough to redeem the series. Yesterday, some new art by Grzegorz Domaradzki (I will chose to refer to him as Gabz for obvious reasons) was made public and it has some fairly major implications for fans of the popular series.

As you can see, the art itself is really rather beautiful and hints at yet another new direction for the series to go in. Unfortunately for me, the word seems to be spreading that this is actually art for a new Assassins Creed Comic series that Ubisoft is working on. While this is not necessarily a bad thing because I am always open to expanding a universe through other mediums but my god.... I want to explore Ancient Egypt in a video game! Ever since it became apparent that the series would often take players to different time periods and cultural settings, I have been praying for them to take it the series to Egypt. It is a setting that is rarely explored in video games and would be a world that I think would be a perfect fit for the series. The thought of exploring the streets of Cairo or chasing corrupt Pharaohs through elaborate Egyptian castles or through the maze-like pathways of decrepit tombs is almost enough to bring a tear to my eye. But obviously, this may not turn out to be the case.

Of course, this new comic series could potentially act as a precursor to AC3 in much the same way as Ubisoft's short film series from Assassin's Creed 2. If that's the case, then count me in. Last year's short film series was incredibly well produced and a great way to expand the story and build excitement for the title. Hell! Brad was happy with reading the Dragon Age books and if these comics can offer the same level of depth as those did, then I'll be happier than David in a room alone with Idol Master girls...

the backdrop would look like egypt but other than that I don't think Ubisoft has the testicles to make any big gameplay changes in the series yet. I to am a fan of the story, i love all that needlessly complicated "Lost" stuff. Though if they don't fix a lot of stuff I'm gonna give it miss.

There are a tonne of golden spheres in paintings of Egyptian Gods though so Gabz may be on to something.

Assassins Creed + Egypt = Epic WIN.
This would be an amazing backdrop for an AC game.
"I’ll be happier than David in a room alone with Idol Master girls…" LMFAO Exactly :)

I don't know Hewy, look at what Ubi did with Splinter Cell, they streamlined it in such a way that made it accessible yet satisfying. If they take the same approach to AC then I think they could really refine the core gameplay in a positive way. It will be interesting to see.

I have always been a fan of Egypt. I loved movies where it's setting is placed there. Excitement and adventure at every turn seems to be the typical theme of Egypt. It would've been awesome to have AC placed there but then again, I don't think it would make much sense in the line of the story. They were always going further into time to the present, not back. I don't know, I guess it would still work. I'm not sure, but they're still using Ezio, right? Don't see how they would incorporate Egypt in anyways after seeing the ending in AC2.
Anyways, I am looking forward to AC3. :D

LMFAO to the last line btw. x'D

That's a great setting for the game but I'm waiting for the inevitable move of the series to China and being a ninja. The series is really made for that with all the climbing and stealth.

Cool artwork, but if it's not for Assassin's Creed 3 then I don't really care.

I've never explored ancient Egypt in a video game, and doing it in Assassin's Creed style would just be amazing. Obviously no hopes up for that, but its definitely a neat idea.

I may be wrong with this but, wasn't there a very Egyptian city in the first assassins creed?

Well in all likely hoods it will be a prequel to the AC series if it goes for stuff like pharaoahs and stuff since Assassin's Creed is in the Middle Ages.

If it really had anything to do with Egypt I would buy it. I love Egyptology and the 18th Dynasty ( 1550 - 1295 BC) and 19th Dynasty (1292 - 1186 BC) are my favourite periods. I was just thinking maybe it could be in the early twentieth Century when some of the ancient egyptian tombs where being excavated, chasing down tomb robbers would be my idea of heaven in a game =)
