It seems Nintendo fixed the one thing I really HATED about Mario Galaxy. No more slogging around an overly large and confusing hub world in order to get to the real gameplay. This structure worked well in Mario 64 because there were much fewer worlds, and you spent a lot more time in each level. But in Mario Galaxy, not only were there way more levels, but story sequences in the hub world would force you to have to run all the way back to the levels you were working on. Thank god for a return to a level map system in Mario Galaxy 2.

Relieved,

Brad

I remember Miyamoto talking about incorporating the simpler interface back when Mario Galaxy 2 was announced, looks like its worked and is a plus in my book, now I don't have to go through layers of poop before getting into an actual level.

Anyway definitely looking forward to this, I found the first one friggin' awesome, I have no idea why the first one got the hate it did from "Hardc0r3 Mari0 fanb0yzz1!" because honestly, that game had some of the most inspired level design I have ever seen as well as every single new world I went to being something unique and fresh. Though, I'm not the biggest fan of Wii tilt stuff like where Mario was on a ball and you had to tilt to move around, seems to be returning.

I don't know, I really liked the hub world. It made everything feel more connected to each other. Sure, that might mean you have to spend another 20 seconds to get to a different world but that feeling is worth it to me.

Also, the hub world allows for a wealth of options on what to do next--this is the main thing I don't want them to remove. That map looked fairly confined with only two diverging paths, pretty much just like NSMB. I reallllly hope that isn't how it is structured.

I much prefer the a la carte style a hub world allows.

well, it looks okay. I never liked the idea of tiny little sphere levels though.
