madden2010screen1It's a little sad, I guess. The two games that I have checked out from GameFly are Madden 2010 for Xbox 360 and Just Dance for the Wii and I am seriously contemplating buying both of these. I've already talked about Just Dance before on the show and in a blog post. I will say that I brought it to Game Night on Tuesday and random strangers were coming up to try it out. This included a very attractive girl in a red blouse with large breasts. So if you still don't understand the draw and infectiousness of this game, you never will. I guess you should go back to playing your Call of Duty and Madden.

So on that note, I've been playing Madden. I played a couple games online just now. One of which I destroyed my opponent and he quit halfway through the game. The other of which, a nail biter, which had multiple lead changes including a come from behind victory under two minutes which was immediately negated by a kickoff return for a touchdown only for me to come back on a Brett Farve touchdown with 17 seconds left.

I cannot stand EA. I don't like the hype surrounding Madden every year. Some years I don't like how they handle the changes. I dislike even more certain types of players online. So much that it once drove me from playing online. Because Madden is a video game, it often times does not reflect actual football. People are morons and do things that no actually football coach/player would do. Also there are some that exploit certain problems that exist in the video game. These problems were evident back in 2003 when I first started playing Madden Online and they exist still even now, which is extremely frustrating. I am finding though, that there are ways around them. The game has actually improved and there are ways to handle those situations provided that you know what to do.

My outlook on the game has changed somewhat. Instead of seeing it as a game with major flaws, I now see it as more of a game which allows players to play dependent on their play style.  Different styles have certain advantages and disadvantages. Some of them stupid and extremely one dimensional, but which can take advantage of. The there are those that are much better than you and kick your ass. Then there are those which are evenly matched and you have close games. I'm comparing Madden to more of a fighting game, if you get the reference. No matter what you will have crappy or stupid players. But searching and finding good competition is what draws me in. Learning new strategies and then executing under pressure is exciting and gets my brain pumping.

I don't know how many of you will be able to understand what I'm talking about. There is a learning curve both for the game and also the sport of football. That will hold a lot of people back. But as for me, we'll have to see how far this love for competition goes.

Two More Weeks Left,
David

This reminds me a bit of when I got Top Spin and some manner of Collage Football game two-for-one disc along with my XBox that I acquired as a gift a little before Halo 2 came out. I pretty much despised Top Spin, but the Collage Football game I really, REALLY enjoyed.

The last time I had played a console football game I had rented one for the SNES.

Just goes to show you that variety is the spice of life, and even genres that you think you may not like you may find yourself enjoying should you at least give them a try.
