If you haven't already heard, Nathan Fillion will be playing a big and much deserved role in the upcoming Halo game. Recently a trailer was released with Fillion's character Buck explaining the game and introducing the characters. Much to the surprise of many, Fillion's Firefly Co-stars Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyk who played Jayne and Wash, will be making an appearance as part of Mal, I mean Buck's crew. Coincidentally, they play a heavy arms soldier and a good enough to be a pilot soldier.
Before watching the trailer, I had heard the news and of course I was pleased. My friend Mike Azzato introduced me to the series and as many, fell in love with the characters, most of them anyways. Not Kaylee.
So what's the problem? I watched the trailer. I hated it. The performance by Fillion, it's undoubtedly Firefly. It's spot on and he didn't miss a beat. But somehow it's off. Sure, Fillion's character Mal was a Military man. Both have Military background and use such lingo. But Halo is a House made of Metal and Firefly is one made of wood. Firefly has a different soul. It's creaky, warm, and the nails are showing. There's that are we going to make it feeling. The God, I hope this holds together. Halo has guys screaming "Get your asses down there on the double time soldier" and "You're part of the roughnecks, Rico's Roughnecks, HOORA."
Hearing Mal's voice talking about ODSTs is just wrong. I don't want Mal, Jayne, and Wash in Halo. I want them in Firefly. You're being suckered people.
Some is better than none, I guess.

It's definitely cool that Fillion, Baldwin, and Tudyk are doing voice-overs as more macho versions of their Firefly characters (at least, that's what I got from your post), but it sounds a little cheesy and like they're trying to nab a quick buck :/

I wanted to say i completely disagree. I thought it was very fun and clever that they were in the halo game. But you all expected them to be their roles as they are in firefly. That would be completely stupid lol! This isn't firefly it's halo! They do, however, have elements of their old characters to please the fan base, not to trick them into buying the game! Overall i thought it was very fun and i tried to enjoy the game unlke everyone here who seems oh-so-disappointed that halo is not the same thing as firefly.
Oh, and one other point.. I noticed someone commenting "They're just trying to get a quick buck." I have a quiestion for you: What actor isn't? What games company isn't? Is there anyone in the entire WORLD who wouldn't mind a quick buck?
I came here expecting to see positive reactions as bungie tips it's hat to another classic sci fi adventure, and does so by giving the guys another job to have fun. Instead all i saw was a bunch of people complaining about minor details which you could easily overlook if you were a true fan or at least a decent person :(
