After a month or so of thinking that the MGS silver PS3 was only going to hit stores in Japan, Sony officially announced that this same package will be hitting American shores as well on June 12, 2008. The bundle will be VERY limited edition and contain a steel colored PS3 with the words "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots" embossed on its surface. It is a 80 GB PS3 that will be the first PS3 to be packaged in a white box! The bundle will retail for $499.99. Sony also took the time to clear up something else:
Metal Gear Solid 4 Online will be packaged with all versions of the game (both standard and LE). It is dubbed the MGS Online Starter Pack but is actually the full online game. Sony is only calling it a starter pack because they have big plans for expanding the concept in the future. It was previously thought that the online portion was only going to be a demo and that the full version would be released at a later date.
I was going to post the box art for both the Standard and LE versions of the game but I figured I would leave that for David when his box art comparison makes its long awaited return to form. So keep your eyes peeled.
