This Metal Gear Rex Collectible Is All I Need In The World

I literally sat here in awe, unable to move, when I first saw this collectible figure from Kotobukiya Models. Details and screens of its new 1/100 scale Rex from Metal Gear Solid have just been released and, oh boy, is this something I'm going to want.
Standing 9 inches tall and comprised of 600 pieces, this Rex kit has multiple points of articulation, a working cockpit, stands on its own -though I would recommend a stand to be sure- and just exudes a badassary that makes Axe Body Spray smell like pumpkin pie. It even comes with a tiny Liquid Snake! (SO CUTE!)
This will set you back $79.99, and will be released in January 2013, but remember that this is a model so you'll have to be putting this thing together yourself, and there is no guarantee that any of us have the skill to make it look as good as it does in these shots.
How much does it cost for someone with skill to make one of these for you?

I'm not one for building models, but I can see myself ignoring food, water, and sleep just to build this thing.
Link / ReplyAs someone who owns a few of this type of model, I only have three words... ME...WANT...NOW!
Link / ReplyBring it on. I have over 10 models built (Gundam). As for the cost. It could vary. At the most double.
Link / ReplyOne thing to mention. Even if you double the cost of building it, it's still cheaper and smaller than the massive Sideshow collectable which costs $500.
Link / ReplyFYI, it comes with two scale figures of Solid Snake, two of Grey Fox, and one of Liquid. This is actually a great deal, since the import version is $105.
Link / Replyman 600 pieces ur gonna want to get one of those expert gundam model builders to handle something like that for u....too bad i dont know anyone skilled enough to put this together without any flaws...if u do know someone a good compensation would be to get one for him as well while he builds u one.
Link / ReplyIt would be worth it if there was a button that made it play BROTHEEEEEEER in very low quality.
Link / ReplyThe fact that the pieces are pre painted is going to save a lot of time and trouble. I haven't put a model together in a long time, but I've been looking to get back into it recently. This one is really high on the list if I ever take the plunge.
Link / ReplyI'm going to have to get another job for this...
Link / Reply79$ is perfect, that leaves me just enough money to pay someone to put it all together for me cause i'm sure as hell not skilled enough to put something like this together
Link / ReplyNow, I'm not sure if there's anybody in the 4player community that collects toys, but this is just trying to cash in on what another toy company is doing, or rather did. Hideo Kojima, along with Ashley Wood (artist from Portable ops and Peace walker who did cutscenes) and Kim Fung Wong of ThreeA Toys signed an agreement to make Figures of the Metal gear's. http://otakurevolution.com/storyimgs/falldog/3ARex.jpg The Pre order for Metal gear Rex was started back in early march for 490$ USD. This rex is 1:48 scale compared to Kotobukiya's 1:100 scale. Its Twice the size, standing at 19 inches tall accompanied with a railgun measuring in 30 inches long. The cockpit lights up. the head lights light up. The Railgun has firing lights. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HLHOuruIpI ThreeA toys specializes in detail that makes robots really look like they've been through wars. The paint job is like a digital green camo that's been scraped and rusted away, almost like its been sitting in Shadow Moses for several years. :P http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jk8HXJR5RTU/UDXcs25GtII/AAAAAAAAACE/K1V3BAwpUG8/s1600/3A-MGS-REX-4__13968_zoom.jpg Armour is removable in select spots, and missile pods open just like Kotobukiya's. You can choose to have it metal gear solid 1 style or metal gear solid 4. http://gamemilitia.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/rex_ful.png Now, when you think 79.99 is a lot of money, that's not bad. Its really good for what you're getting. Its got all the articulation you could want in a rex figure, but it pales in comparison to the ThreeA version of Rex. I bought it in march, and it was scheduled to be shipped in august, but probably wont get it till november. Still, the anticipation is killing me. Oh, and Ray is around the corner. thats another 500 dollars. :S http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7202/6974393400_d8d090c2c4_z.jpg
Link / ReplyI'm not skilled in model making that I can make it look super-good, but even if I was, I'd do it for free just for the pleasure of putting together something so badass.
