Audible Impressions: Metro 2033 Video Edition!

By Chris Davis on July 23rd, 2012 (9 comments)

Howdy do, folks!  Last week during our usual writers meeting we got the idea to try something new.  After shuffling papers between the 38th and 42nd floors here at 4Player Towers and hours upon hours of debate we finally got it worked out.  My friends, I give you: Audible Impressions, video edition!

Yes, that's right: going forward, we will be trying to do a video presentation of AI for each game we talk about.  This is, of course, subject to game availability and a bunch of other factors but we thought you guys might want to do more than just sit there and simply LISTEN to it.  Yes, we will still be doing an audio-only version that you can listen to whenever and wherever you go but there's only so much a podcast can do for you and we feel you can get a much better sense for a game if you can see it in action.

Before you watch the above video I ask, nay, beg of you to heed the following: THIS IS A PILOT.  This is, in no way, representative of the video version of AI far down the road and many things can and will be fixed with the video.  Please keep this in mind and, of course, give us some constructive criticism.

We'll have the audio version uploaded later on today.  Want to see that full E3 demo of Last Light?  Watch the video below.

Thanks guys, and, again, we appreciate the feedback!

I am 4Player's video and feature producer. I've been writing about games for years and I enjoy every minute of it. I'm pro-developer and I have a few friends who have gone on to successful careers in the industry. I may only be an amateur but I've got things to say.

About Last light being tied to the books, it's not 2034 as you said. *SPOILERS for 2033* 2034 is a sequel that deals with the adventures of Hunter after the events of 2033. And, indeed the "bad" ending of the game when you kill the Dark Ones is actually what happens in the book. Just as in the game's ending, Artyom realizes that the Dark Ones were only trying to communicate with humans, but their telepathy was much too strong and they ended up killing most of them. Artyom was able to resist it but he realized too late, and had already sent the fiery destruction their way. *End of SPOILERS for 2033* They are an awesome pair of books (mainly the part with the librarians) and hopefully Last Light will be an awesome game.

Yeah Jeff sounds naturally that sexy. It makes me hot and bothered during our weekly meetings.

I never knew you felt this way Bob. Mwwwa ;) No lie. This is my healthy and natural voice. Hate it or love it, two things for sure...it's unique and I'm stuck with it.

You should get into voice acting, Jeff.
