Rejoice... or Not: Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC Arrives Next Tuesday

Mass Effect 3! Don't you feel EXCITED?!
Okay, yea, so there was some controversy... and by controversy I mean a holy shitstorm of people confused, pissed, and decrying Bioware for how the game ended. I get that, I understand your pain. Hopefully you understand what I thought about it.
Well, whether you like it or not, Bioware announced today that the much-lauded Extended Cut DLC will arrive next week for all platforms. To reiterate the obvious, the DLC is free and AUGMENTS the endings with new scenes and content without changing the ending options. So, yes, it will still be the same options but with more information about what just happened.
Want more info? You can check out the interview with executive producer Casey Hudson and lead writer Mac Walters. They pretty much spell out and address fans concerns (everyone dies, starvation, etc.) while not actually showing it.
So, anyone else going to do a second playthrough like I will now that this is coming out?

I am 4Player's video and feature producer. I've been writing about games for years and I enjoy every minute of it. I'm pro-developer and I have a few friends who have gone on to successful careers in the industry. I may only be an amateur but I've got things to say.

At this point, I don't anyone cares anymore. I guess some will try it out, just to see what will happen, but everyone is pretty much done with the Mass Effect series, including me.
Link / ReplyI was actually going to say the exact same thing. Who cares anymore? Mass Effect 3 was such a disappointment (and no not just because of the ending) that Bioware has effectively killed all interest in Mass Effect.
Link / ReplyI'll youtube it. No desire to play this again at all.
Link / ReplyDon't care anymore. The ending was shit. I moved on.
Link / ReplyI haven't played this game since it came out. When I did I actually played that tedious multiplayer in order to get 100% readiness and have the "best" ending. Now, since I haven't been playing my readiness has dropped. There is no way I am doing that all again. I'll watch it on youtube.
Link / ReplyWell, it's free and they're technically sticking to their guns instead of retconning it, so I guess no one can really complain about it (unless they haven't gotten over it yet). But the damage is done, and I doubt this will help to fix that.
Link / ReplyIt's great that they're doing this, really nothing to complain about. They're sticking to what they made but providing more content so that there's potentially more closure. They're also releasing this for free to address complaints after already having had financial success with Mass Effect 3.
Link / ReplyCouldn't you just reload your last save before the ending? Or is it confirmed that a new playthrough is required to experience the DLC?
Link / ReplyYou don't have to do a complete new playthrough, you just need to play from before the mission attacking the Cerberus's base at Chronos Station.
Link / ReplyI have been waiting for this since I beat it. However, I really just don't care. Mass Effect was my favorite series and maybe game of all time and ME2 was brilliant, even with it's flaws. ME3 just went further down the tunnel of gears of war but with conversation tree's. I will try it again and maybe I can appreciate it but I fear the damage has been done and a DLC*sorry for our crap ending* apology isn't gonna make it better. Just make KOTOR for consoles and isn't an rpg or a new jades empire and then I will forgive
Link / ReplyI'll youtube it.
Link / ReplyHonestly I was expecting to find a price tag on this, glad there isn't one so maybe I'll pick this up during a Christmas Amazon sale though honestly I don't see myself missing out on much by not playing ME3.
Link / ReplyI didn't really rage or anything at the ending before or felt really connected with any of the love interests, so this extended cut is just more tagged on dialogue to me I'll just wait for dragon age 3
Link / ReplyGuess who cares?? Not me!
Link / ReplyI couldn't even bring myself to go 3/4ths of the way into the game.
Link / ReplyIts times like these I'm glad youtube exists I'm not going through all that crap again.
Link / ReplyYeah no.
Link / Replyglad to know people here can be mature about it......... oh wait
Link / ReplyMaybe I'll consider actually beating it now.
Link / ReplyInteresting how a lot of responses so far seem to be complete indifference - just like mine! I understand how endings can be controversial in many games, but sometimes writers should stick by their product instead of releasing an explanation waaaaay after the controversy. At this point, I'm going to do what a lot of my fellow commenters will do - I'm goin' to You Tube this shit.
Link / ReplyChecked out of the series after the 2nd. I just liked pretending to be angry at the Bioware devs at PAX East.
Link / ReplyI got caught on the hop with this, figured they'd give us more than 4 days notice. I'm going through the game completely for a second time at the moment. I don't want to Youtube this, I don't want it cold, I wanted to go through it again and get it all in context. Don't think I'll be finished with the replay in time for Tuesday though, so I probably won't see the EC until Saturday. Fair to say there's a lot hanging on this for Bioware.
Link / ReplyPlease, indoctrination theory. Let it be true...
Link / ReplySaw this, thought about checking it out. Then my brain fart finished and I laughed and played more Witcher 2.
