Here Are the First 10 Minutes of NeverDead

I've been holding out a twinkle of hope for Konami's action title NeverDead, but after seeing the first 10 minutes I just don't know.
With atrocious animations and some fairly bad writing as well -and not even funny-bad, just bad-, the entire thing is looking very unfinished. And that's not even taking into account that the game seems to open with a completely uninspired boss fight.
Hopefully the game picks up considerably after what we see here, or it's filled with so much charm and personality that you can overlook some of its more profane shortcomings. We'll see.

That was seriously underwhelming. I was wondering how you could have an action game where the player character can't die, so they turn it into an escort game? (heheh) Follow that up with weak sounding guns (especially the dual SMG's) terrible writing AND voice-acting, and an intro that doesn't even hook me at all. I'll pass. Too many better games out and coming out in the near future to win my money. :-/
Link / Replyi understand where you are coming from. But in this day and age many (including myself) don't care about anything you have problems with. Do you know want to know why? GAMEFLY. I don't have to pay full retail for a lackluster game. There's games you Buy There's games you rent There's games that suck that aren't worth a cent. <<<<<hopefully not Neverdead

Link / ReplyI knew it was going to be bad after seeing Rebellion was developing it at E3 2010. It was only a matter of time before this was proven to be true. Quite sad, really, because I do like the concept.

Link / Replygreat concept, looks super cheap and badly done. Voice acting is bad, animations are awful, visual design seems..misguided at best, and the shooting looks kinda cheap, especially for an action game. Only good thing I saw in this 10 minute footage was that the opening pre-rendered cinematic looked sorta pretty. (also anyone else think they accidentally clicked on a soul calibur trailer when that sword and shield fantasy stuff kicked in?)

Link / ReplyI mean, I never really expected much out of the gameplay from the beginning, Rebellion Developments has well.. let's be honest, never really been able to develop a technical masterpiece and that history of development is beginning to show itself in these 10 minutes, however a really innovative game mechanic could very well push the game in the right direction. As far as writing goes it's quite bluntly awful. On the other hand this game does have a very large amount of potential in it's personality and style, and I could name off a fair amount of games that have sold well simply because the art direction was handled so well, yet gameplay fell beneath expectations.
Link / ReplyI'm not giving up on this just yet. I thought the dude playing it was terrible, and I'm not going to judge the game based on the first ten minutes. I'll read some game reviews and watch some better scenes before I'll officially condemn this game. But really, I just want to fucking own a game with Megadeth.
Link / Replyoh god...i was super optimistic about this game when i saw the trailer last year and now...voice acting sucks, writing is kinda soulless, and gameplay section during the credits could have been cool, but the whole experience was...lackluster. i'm a little disappointed...

Link / ReplyI remember some early footage of a fight against a charging enemy. The player got hit and fell apart, rolled around for 5 minutes until they had all their parts, got one shot in on the enemy, and then got hit again, and fell apart again. I decided there and then that this game was not for me.
