That Persona 4 Fighting Game Now Comes with Screenshots
By Joseph Christ on August 31st, 2011 (23 comments)

Following Famitsu's reveal of the Persona 4 fighting game titled "Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena," they have now published a series of screenshots showing the game in action. It looks like your typical anime-style fighting game but the fact that it's being developed by The Persona Team at Atlus with the developers of BlazBlue at Arc System Works means that it should be dripping with enough personality to choke a horse on steroids. And if anything, it's very, very pretty.
I'll leave out my question concerning if a Persona game is even necessary because these are video games, and ultimately nothing about them is necessary. Basically, Persona fans are ravenous about the series will be all over this like Meth in West Virginia.
Check out the screens below. Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena is scheduled for release next summer in Japan for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Man that looks awesome. However I'm concerned about the size of the roster. Also, I'm detecting some engrish in the 4th screenshot (FREE PRAY lol), which is weird as the other screens show it right. Maybe an earlier screenshot?

Link / ReplyTypo very last sentence, "Xbox 260"
Link / ReplyLooks cool, but the perspective of the sprites and the background are off, you REALLY notice it in the bottom right pic
Link / ReplyI think the screenshots alone are triggering epilepsy. AWESOME.
Link / ReplyI wasn't into the persona series, but now that a fighting game from Arc System Works? Sign me up!
Link / ReplyOk so I wasn't excited but I really enjoyed Blaz Blue so I am now really considering taking a look at this game.
Link / ReplyDoes this mean I can spam Bufu in this game?
Link / ReplyThis is still one of the most peculiar franchise surprises for me in a long time. Still, visually it looks very nice. Looking forward to seeing how it pans out.
Link / ReplyI'm certainly not a Persona fan (haven't touched a sing SMT game ever), but I adore Arc System Works, especially the Guilty Gear series. I'll be all over this shit like white on rice. Being ASW, I expect a soundtrack with metal up the ass.
Link / ReplyCan't wait to MARIN FUCKING KARIN everything that moves.
Link / ReplyI'm not that big into fighting games but I am getting hyped for this. Stylistically its amazing and its a Persona game. LOOKS AMAZING!
Link / ReplyEh... I'm not a Big Fan of Fighting Games.. but... I'll do it for Elizabeth <3
Link / ReplyNo thanks...
Link / ReplyDid not see this coming.
Link / ReplyCall me interested. I'm not sure if they'll be fighting hand to hand or with personas. I'll save my questions for next year. :3
Link / ReplySuper cool, probably play the hell out of Chie. XP
Link / Reply"enough to choke a horse on steriods" gotta love your reviews, Joseph. and i can see the perspective issue that someone mentioned earlier, but it doesn't bother me too much. still looks awesome and super fun.
Link / ReplyI haven't played a Persona game, but I'm willing to start playing the franchise soon enough, starting with P3P. And I've always enjoyed fighting games, so why not? I'll try this. Good article as always, Joseph. ...I also call dibs on Aigis.
Link / ReplySo maybe like...a persona themed Guilty Gear would be awesome, it looks to be that calibur...also Free Pray
Link / ReplyI'm kind of excited for this as it looks like it'll play like the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fighting game and its being made by ArcSystem Workds... then again director is Mori and not Daisuke so it could turn out like vanilla BlazBlue...
Link / ReplyEhh, looks alright. I dont think I'll be picking it up.
Link / ReplyWait if this is Persona 4, why is Aigis here?
